Tony Allan

Tony is a geologist with over 30 years experience in applied research and geological fieldwork. He has a multidisciplinary understanding of the evolution of hydrocarbon-bearing sedimentary basins in Australasia, and a unique expertise in the accurate determination of limestone age by strontium isotope and biostratigraphic dating. This expertise includes a detailed understanding of optimal analytical and sampling methods, and the identification and cause of errors in age determination. He has applied these skills in numerous exploration programs throughout the Papuan Basin in Papua New Guinea, other Indo-Pacific basins in Indonesia and Malaysia, and in the Middle East and Americas. In more recent research he has applied these specialised stratigraphic methods to Tertiary limestone-bearing sequences on the northwest and southern Australian margins.
